On Sunday I photographed the XTERRA Buffalo Pound Provincial Park Triathlon.  This was the first year for the event, and it was hugely successful.  Athletes participated in either the half or full event including:

500m or 1km swim / 10km or 23km off-road bike / 5km or 9.5km run

Getting around to various vantage points on foot got me about 5km under my belt, as well as countless mosquito bites.

It was a great day.  Many of the athletes claimed this was the most difficult course they’ve ever competed in.  We’re looking forward to an even bigger event next year and for many years to come.

Thanks to XTERRA Canada and Calvin Zaryski for permission to shoot the event, as well as local organizers Joe Jackson and Ryan Leibel.  Note: all three of these guys participated with impressive finishes.
